Toronto Region Board of Trade panel: How innovations and IP developed in tech, aerospace, and health can transform advanced manufacturing

The University of Toronto Robotics Institute’s managing director, Hallie Siegel, moderated the Toronto Region Board of Trade Future of Manufacturing Symposium panel on innovation and IP, joined by industry leaders Joris Myny from Siemens, John Laughlin from NGen Canada and Amber Batool from CIBC Capital Markets, introduced by Derek Newton from the University of Toronto.

Panelists discussed a range of challenges and opportunities facing Canadian manufacturers, including talent, technology transfer, IP strategy, as well as policies provincial and federal governments could put in place to better support Canadian manufacturers and grow the economy. The panel also reinforced the importance of investing in innovation: improving safety, efficiency, productivity, and resilience of the core industries that drive our economy.
