Congrats to Prof. Jessica Burgner-Kahrs who was named to the 2021 edition of Robohub’s “Women in robotics you need to know about“. The annual list comes out every year in commemoration of Ada Lovelace Day, and in the past has featured UofT Professors Angela Schoellig, Raquel Urtasun, Sheila McIlraith, Rosalie Wang, and Sanja Fidler, alongside international colleagues from across academia, industry and government at all career stages.
UofT is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of its many women faculty, students and alumni who have advanced the field of robotics, while simultaneously working to advance diversity in the field. This year UofT alumni and astronaut trainer Kristen Facciol was also named to the list.
While plenty more work is needed to improve diversity within our Institute, and in robotics in general, UofT has a strong contingent of women roboticists, from grad students to early career researchers, to tenure faculty. UofT News’ recently launched Groundbreakers series is featuring many of these women, starting with Prof. Goldie Nejat.
